GOOD NEWS! The foot is not broken——just a fracture. I have lost the cast (thank you Urgent Care) and now have a shoe like Charlie Brown’s.

Going to the bone doctor….hoping to get a walking cast….say a little prayer for me.

Said goodbye to my first best friend today, Kristin Auble. The Aubles and Widmans were inseparable for many years, playing outside in the clubhouse, running around the backyards, setting up our fake businesses in the attic, and of course eventually attending high school together. She was one of the sweetest, most considerate and patient people I have ever met in my entire life. It pains me to know that she is gone…will never get married…will never have kids. Her complications from diabetes may have ended her life early, but I am committed to changing my own because of her. I am going to search for new ways to serve others in my own life. Being a performer tends to feel like a selfish job at times…wanting to get paid to do shows, have fun, entertain. She was dedicated to SERVICE. She was a speech pathologist for special needs students in Delaware, and er students loved her. The outpouring of love from them and the notes they have sent her family are so moving, and make me feel like I need to do something of service in my life. When I return to NYC (with a broken foot…) I hope to find some way to reach out and add service into my life. By taking her legacy and bringing it into my life, I can keep Kristin alive in my heart.

My childhood neighbor and best friend Kristin Auble…we spent hours outdoors in the summers playing in the clubhouse, collecting bark, sticks, and bugs to make stews, ran through the sprinkler, had lemonade stands, and as we got older set up an imaginative business center in the attic where I was the mayor. When I think about my childhood, you are always there. I can still see your silhouette standing in the window of our backdoor, asking us to come over and play. You were filled with so much IMAGINATION. You expanded my thoughts and dreams beyond this life and into worlds I never knew existed. If only every little boy had a neighbor like you! You will be missed, and I am so sad that your time on this earth has ended. Your Grandma Jackie and my Nana will show you around and introduce you to all their amazing discoveries in heaven. You may not live next door anymore, you may not even live here on earth, but you will always live in my heart and my memory. Love, Jacob.
